Join the HeroCorps of Volunteers!
Operation Hug-A-Hero® is sustained through a nearly entire volunteer force of dedicated and passionate men and women. As we grow to serve more families worldwide, we need you to join our HeroCorps!
Whether you can dedicate 1 hour a week or 10, your contributions will make a difference. Some of the areas where we are seeking volunteer support include:
Family Affairs Liaison (Local/Regional)
Serving families in need is the very heart of what we do at Operation Hug-A-Hero. Our Family Affairs Liaisons are the lifelines between families in need and our organization.
In this role we hope you will develop relationships with support services professionals, school counselors, chaplains and unit leadership on the military bases that are in your area to raise awareness about Operation Hug-A-Hero to identify families that are eligible for our program. In addition, you will assist those families with the application process and, if accepted into our program, be instrumental in getting a Hug-A-Hero doll into the hands of those children.
We also look forward to working with Family Affairs Liaisons that represent municipal law enforcement or first responder communities such that we can effectively serve the families of these heroes.

OHAH Fundraising Ambassadors (Local/Regional)
Operation Hug-A-Hero gets overwhelming support everywhere we go. Spreading the word about our cause and finding connections with individuals, corporations, local businesses and philanthropic groups that want to raise funds on our behalf is tremendously rewarding.
We have some great “fundraising in a box” ideas that you can take to your community and we have some other great ideas that have been successful for others that you can share with your community as well. Finally, we have many organizations that have already committed to raising funds for our cause and we simply want to provide them with a personal touch to show them that we value their commitment.

Photographers (Local/Regional)
One of our greatest challenges in creating the best possible dolls for the children in our program is starting with a good quality photograph of their hero.
Operation Hug-A-Hero seeks photography professionals and enthusiasts alike willing to donate their time to connect with our families in the communities where you all live to shoot quality photos of our heroes.
Ideally we would love to have a short list of volunteer photographers for each of our major military installations that we could call upon to support unit photo shoots prior to deployments or individual sittings that we organize into efficient groups.

Becoming a HeroCorps Volunteer
The first step in becoming a HeroCorps Volunteer is to register here or through the link below. Be sure to fill out all of the fields completely, and don’t forget to indicate how you are most interested in serving. You can volunteer to support more than one area, and we hope you will!
After registration, you will receive a confirmation e-mail within 24 hours. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, please call us at (910)546-3127. We will be glad to check the status of your registration.
Once successfully registered we will contact you to arrange an orientation/training session which will detail volunteer opportunities and training next steps. If you have questions or concerns before you hear from us, please call (910)546-3127 or e-mail herocorps AT operationhugahero.org
One last thing: don’t forget to tell friends, family and business associates about becoming a member of the HeroCorps. Our goal is to recruit 100 volunteers nationwide by year 2010, and we need your assistance in doing so.
