The Hug-A-Hero® Doll Program

Operation Hug-A-Hero®’s anchor program is the dissemination of free Hug-A-Hero® dolls for families that qualify based on published eligibility criteria.

Through collaboration with parents, family services and other community services professionals, the Operation-Hug-A-Hero® Doll Program seeks to ease the anxiety associated with the separation due to military deployment, the anxiety experienced when a parent’s duties put them in harm’s way or the sadness that befalls a child when a parent or loved one is lost in the line of duty.

In addition, the Operation Hug-A-Hero® Doll Program serves to provide a child with a “tool” to share other feelings about their parent or loved one and their service to our country with others.

The Hug-A-Hero® Doll Partner Program

Operation Hug-A-Hero® acknowledges the tremendous efforts of the many other organizations that exist to serve the very same families that we touch with other programs and services.

Our Partner Program effort seeks to connect Operation Hug-A-Hero® with other organizations and agencies that serve this population of vulnerable children such that we can integrate Hug-A-Hero® Dolls into their program efforts.

Hug-A-Hero® Connections Program

Building a community of caring, compassion and communication was always an area of programmatic focus for Operation Hug-A-Hero®.  As the number of children in our program grows, we aspire to connect parents, family services professionals, school counselors, chaplains and others with each other through one thing that we know they have in common – a relationship with Operation Hug-A-Hero®.

We have just initiated the planning phase for the Connections Program with the goal of a formal launch in the second half of 2010.
